Windblow
What to consider ?
Percentage of forestry blown, satellite footage can be gotten off of
Treemetrics free of charge or a drone survey of the site which would
better identify if your site is fully windblown or if wind snap has
taken place.

What needs to be done first?
Have you a clearfell license ? You can then harvest your timber
Have you a Thining license ? You need to send in one simple form to
allow you to change your thinning license to a clearfell license, you
just need to wait for 2 weeks from the time of submitting this before
you can start harvesting.
No license? You need to apply for a windblow/clearfell license as
soon as possible. You need to ensure that the harvest plan that is
submitted with this properly shows what will be carried out on site to
avoid issues for your license at a later stage which will hold it up.
Once you have your felling license you need to get in contact and make
a plan with what you want carried out and if you want to square up and
of the remaining standing trees.
There will be a higher harvesting rate on windblown timber due to the
increased cost of harvesting due to additional wear on machinery,
reduced production by 50% and poorer ground conditions with loose root
plates and higher stumps due to not being able to see trees that are
crossed over.
